A PNG that is “fine on your computer” can still be huge in an email or a web upload. This page shrinks a PNG so it takes less space, without turning it into a blurry JPEG.
How to compress a PNG
- Upload a PNG up to 50 MB.
- Pick how hard to shrink it, and whether to drop hidden extra info.
- Press Convert file and download the smaller PNG.
Fast is a good default. Smallest spends more time for a tighter file.
What you get
You get another PNG. Same width and height. Same transparency. Usually a smaller number of bytes, which is what you want before you attach it or put it on a site.

- Any PNG you are about to upload somewhere with a size cap
It will not turn a photo into a tiny JPEG. If you need that, export a JPEG from an editor instead.

What happens: The PNG is losslessly recompressed — same pixels, tighter DEFLATE streams and optional ancillary chunk removal.

Inputs: PNG up to 50 MB. Optimization level 1–4; metadata strip mode none, safe, or all.
Output: A PNG with identical width, height, and transparency. File size usually drops; pixels do not.
Lossy? No. This is lossless PNG optimization.
Metadata: safe removes non-critical chunks (time stamps, comments). all removes every ancillary chunk including color profiles.
Common failures: Non-PNG uploads, truncated files, or images above the cap.
Use when: You need a smaller PNG for upload limits without switching formats.
