A PNG or JPEG that is "fine on your computer" can still be huge in an email or a web upload. Convert to WebP to make the file smaller, without turning it into a blurry JPEG.

How to convert an image to WebP

  1. Upload a PNG, JPEG, or TIFF image (up to 50 MB).
  2. Pick the quality setting (80 is a good default).
  3. Press Convert file and download the WebP result.

Smaller file makes a WebP with slightly lower quality but much smaller size. Better quality keeps more detail for a larger file.

What you get

You get a WebP image. Same width and height. Same transparency. Usually a smaller number of bytes, which is what you want before you attach it or put it on a site.

When this helps

  • Web performance (faster page loads)
  • Email attachments (stay under size limits)
  • Mobile bandwidth savings
  • SEO (page speed is a ranking factor)

It will not edit or resize your image. If you need that, use an image editor first.
