Operation details
What happens: qpdf rewrites the PDF with a linearized object stream so a browser can render the first pages before the entire file downloads ("fast web view").
Engine: qpdf 12.4.0 with --linearize.
Inputs: PDF up to 80 MB.
Output: A linearized PDF with the same page count, text, and images. File size is often similar to the original.
Lossy? No content changes — only file layout for streaming.
Common failures: Password-protected PDFs, severely damaged files, or uploads above the cap.
