Some 3D tools store a small thumbnail preview inside the FBX file itself. This tool pulls that embedded image out and hands it to you as a PNG — no 3D viewer or design software needed.

How to extract an FBX thumbnail

  1. Upload a .fbx 3D file (up to 40 MB) that has an embedded thumbnail.
  2. No options needed — the extraction just runs.
  3. Press Convert file and download your PNG.

What you get

A PNG image of the preview that was stored inside the FBX file. PNG thumbnails come out unchanged; JPEG and BMP thumbnails are converted to PNG.

When this helps

  • Grabbing a quick preview image from an FBX delivered by a client or manufacturer.
  • Generating thumbnails for file catalogs, dashboards, or asset browsers.
  • Sharing a visual of a product or scene without sending the whole 3D file.

This extracts the embedded preview only — it does not render the 3D scene and does not rebuild the model. If your FBX was exported without a thumbnail, there is nothing to extract.
