Some COLLADA (.dae) 3D model files carry a preview image inside them. This tool finds that embedded image and pulls it out as a PNG you can use anywhere.

How to extract the thumbnail

  1. Upload a DAE file up to 40 MB that contains an embedded image.
  2. Press Convert file.
  3. Download the resulting PNG.

What you get

A PNG copy of the preview image that was stored inside the model file. If the model embedded a PNG, you get the exact same pixels. Otherwise the embedded image is converted so it's always a clean PNG.

When this helps

  • Grabbing a product or asset preview that's baked into a DAE model
  • Building a thumbnail gallery for a 3D asset library or catalog
  • Quickly checking what a model looks like without a 3D viewer or CAD tool
  • Reusing a model's built-in preview in documents, slides, or chat

This extracts the image that's already inside the file—it does not render the 3D model. If your DAE has no embedded picture, there's nothing to extract, and you'll get a clear message instead of a made-up image.
